Upgrading Aging Classrooms, Labs, and School Facilities for Quality Education and Student Safety
Lompoc Unified School District Board has voted to place Measure M a school facilities improvement bond measure on the November 2024 ballot and we need your help! Most of Lompoc’s schools were built more than 60 years ago and need urgent repairs and upgrades.
Thousands of students attend class in aging portables that are falling apart and need to be replaced. Many local schools have leaky roofs and deteriorating sewers, plumbing, heating and cooling systems. Science labs and classroom technology need upgrades to support current instructional standards. Most schools do not meet current health codes, building safety codes or provide full access for students with disabilities.
A school improvement bond measure provides locally controlled funding to repair and upgrade local schools so all students attend class in safe and up-to-date schools.
A bond measure would:
Provide classrooms, labs and technology to support high-quality instruction in math, science, engineering, technology and other core academic programs
Remove hazardous materials like asbestos and lead paint and pipes from older school sites
Upgrade older schools so they meet current health codes, building safety codes and provide full access for students with disabilities
Provide modern labs, job training facilities and equipment so students are prepared for college and in-demand careers in fields like health sciences, engineering, technology and skilled trades
Repair or replace deteriorating roofs, plumbing, sewer lines, gas lines and electrical systems
Improve student safety, campus security systems including fencing, cameras, emergency communications systems, smoke detectors and fire alarms
Funds from a school facilities improvement bond measure cannot be taken away by the State. An Independent Oversight Committee and annual audits ensure funds are spent properly. A bond measure will also help our local schools qualify for state matching funds that will otherwise go to schools in other communities.

To pass this bond measure must receive at least a 55% passage threshold. Upgrades to our aging schools are long overdue and we need your help to get this measure over the top. We need YOUR support to make this happen.
